Phillip J. Calenda, M. D.

Phillip J. Calenda, M. D. is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and a member of the Ocular Trauma Service at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he also taught cataract surgery for many years to ophthalmologists in training. In addition, Dr. Calenda is an attending physician at Hudson Valley Hospital Center.

Dr. Calenda is a specialist in dry eye syndrome, cataract surgery, and LASIK surgery.

Dr. Calenda completed his Ophthalmology Residency and his Transitional Internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New York. He earned his Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fordham University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the national honor society Phi Beta Kappa.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Calenda is a lecturer for the New York State Ophthalmological Society and a member of the ophthalmology section of the Westchester County Medical Society.

Dr. Calenda is a frequent speaker and interviewee.He educates optometrists on treatment options for dry eye syndrome patients, and the use of antibiotics in the prevention and treatment of ocular infections.Dr. Calenda's interviews have appeared in Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and Woman's World Magazines; the New York Post newspaper; and websites such as WebMD.com and Drugstore.com.

A former Medical and Surgical Director for LASIK Plus, Dr. Calenda brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the area.He has performed over 9,000 LASIK procedures, a surgical vision correction procedure that reduces or eliminates a person's dependence on glasses or contact lenses.
